our history
our history Urban Leadership Institute (ULI) was established in 1999 in Baltimore, Maryland, when two teachers, LaMarr Darnell Shields and David Miller were, in the words of Fannie Lou Hammer, “sick and tired of being sick and tired”. This was a response to a growing concern about the plight of urban youth.
